Plain English. What we collect, what we don't, and why. Last updated May 9, 2026.

Your answers stay on your device

When you fill out intake steps or use the triage tool on the homepage — names, dates, situation descriptions, or your filing state preference (ss_state) — those answers are saved in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device until you choose to print or download. We don't receive them, don't store them on our servers, and don't transmit them anywhere. After you print or download your documents, the data is automatically cleared from localStorage.

What we do collect

If you create an account, we store your email address and subscription status in Firebase (Google's infrastructure). This data is processed by Google under their Data Processing and Security Terms and Google Privacy Policy. Google acts as our service provider and is contractually obligated to process the data only on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.

If you make a payment, Square processes your card. We only receive a confirmation with your payment ID, plan, and email. We never see or store your card number.

We log print events and payment events to an internal audit log (account ID, document type, timestamp) for 90 days only, then permanently delete or fully anonymize them. These logs are used solely to investigate billing issues or abuse.

SafeChannel messages

When you use SafeChannel, the full content of messages, timestamps, and metadata are stored on our secure servers to create a verifiable court record. Messages are reviewed by automated systems (including AI moderation) and/or human moderators before sending. Access is restricted to you and authorized personnel for moderation or legal compliance. Retention lasts for the life of your active subscription plus up to 3 years after termination, or longer if required by law, court order, or ongoing legal proceedings. After this period, messages are deleted or fully anonymized where possible.

Document packet emails

When you request your document packet through the dashboard, we email you a secure summary with download links to the email on your account. This transmission is encrypted, but email is not 100% secure — we recommend downloading and storing the files locally immediately.

Infrastructure providers (Cloudflare)

This website uses Cloudflare for security, performance, and DDoS protection. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies and log IP addresses, browser information, and request data as part of its standard operations. This data is processed in accordance with Cloudflare's Privacy Policy and is used solely for security and service delivery. We do not use Cloudflare for analytics or advertising.

Translations (DeepL)

When translation is needed (see Terms of Service), limited user-submitted text from narrative fields is sent to DeepL's API. DeepL processes this text only to provide the translation service and does not use it to train models, per their paid API terms. The translated text is shown to you for review and confirmation before any document is generated.

What we don't do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. SafeChannel message content is not used to train or improve any generative AI models — it is used only for moderation, delivery, timestamping, and creating court records. We do not use your data for any purpose except running the Service, processing payments, providing SafeChannel, translations, maintaining required records, security, billing, and legal compliance.

Security

All traffic is encrypted over HTTPS. API calls require a valid login token. We apply security headers to every page to reduce common web vulnerabilities. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected California residents as required by California law (generally within 30–60 days of discovery, or as soon as practicable).

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

Categories of personal information we collect: Identifiers (email, account ID); commercial information (payment confirmations from Square); internet and electronic activity (usage and print logs); SafeChannel message content and metadata (when you use it). We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by CCPA.

Third parties: Google (Firebase) for account hosting; Square for payments; Cloudflare for security and infrastructure; DeepL for on-demand translations (when your language preference requires it). These providers process data under their own terms and data-processing agreements.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at legal@thesharpesystem.com. We will respond within the time required by law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children and minors

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (as defined by COPPA) or from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. Contact us immediately at legal@thesharpesystem.com if you believe we may have such data.

Questions or data deletion

If something here doesn't make sense, or you want your account and data deleted, reach out directly at legal@thesharpesystem.com. The Sharpe System LLC is built by one person and we'll respond like one.
